How to move

Houston Stadium is at NRG Park in the south. Unlike Dallas, Houston has direct rail to the stadium — use it.

George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) — plan before you land

George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is on the far north side of Houston. NRG Stadium is on the far south side — a true cross-city drive. On a normal day: 35–50 min. On match day: plan 90–120 min minimum.

The solution: Once you're in the city, take the METRORail Red Line directly to NRG Park Station. No traffic, no parking. This is the smartest move for Houston fans.

1
METRORail Red Line Budget Hero
Houston's light rail runs directly to NRG Park Station — a 2-minute walk from the stadium entrance. From Downtown or Midtown, it's a 10–15 min ride with frequent match-day service. The cheapest, fastest, most stress-free option if you're staying anywhere near the rail line.
Direct to stadium No parking needed ~$1.25 one way Not near IAH or Galleria
2
Rental Car Best for Multi-Day
Best if you're doing multiple things across Houston over several days. Pick up at IAH. Budget the real all-in cost — airport taxes, insurance, and match-day parking add up. NRG parking exists but is expensive and traffic-heavy on match day.
USA drives on the right side of the road. If you're from a left-hand-drive country — allow extra time to adjust. Intersections and highway on-ramps are the trickiest spots.
Most flexible ~$100–120/day all-in (≈€92–110) ~ Est. Parking $40–100+ match day ~ Est. Under 25? ~$25/day surcharge
3
Uber / Lyft
Normal Houston rides est. $15–30 (≈€14–28). Match-day surge to/from stadium can hit $50–80+ (≈€46–74). Post-match is worst — 2+ hour waits possible at stadium gates. Walk 5–10 min away from the exits before requesting.
No parking Great if near Midtown Surge on match days Long post-match wait at gate

Book your rental car early — rates spike significantly during tournament weeks.
